Google Earth - клиентское ПО для работы с трехмерной моделью Земли, созданной на основе спутниковых фотографий высокого разрешения. Широкие возможности по изменению масштаба изображений (иногда вплоть до отдельных домов), и многое другое, включая определение координат обьекта. Карту можно просматривать карту под любым углом; большая часть карты - это обычные 2D-фотографии, но некоторые объекты (населенные пункты) представлены в виде трехмерных моделей.
Для комфортной работы c Google Earth требуется современный компьютер и высокоскоростное соединение с Интернетом (впрочем, можно работать и через dial-up, но только получится медленно).
